NAMED “FRIEND OF IOWA BUSINESS”

The Iowa Industry PAC, the political action committee of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, has named a number of candidates for the Iowa Legislature as “Friends of Iowa Business”.

The Iowa Industry PAC (IIPAC) evaluates candidates based on their ability to help create jobs in Iowa by supporting a competitive business climate. Criteria used to make the designations include the candidates’ positions on issues of importance to job creators in Iowa.

“This initial wave of endorsements signifies that these candidates have demonstrated a commitment to improve Iowa’s business climate so that employers can create more jobs and grow the economy,” said Kirk Tyler, President of Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling Company who chairs IIPAC. Additional endorsements may be made throughout the election cycle.

EVERYDAY AMERICA

Everyday America endorses in Iowa’s Eight Statehouse District

Algona, IA-(March 5, 2010)-Everyday America is proud to announce its endorsement of Tom Shaw in the Republican Party primary for Iowa’s Eighth Statehouse District. Tom has truly shown his independence through his words and actions. Tom initially ran as an independent in this race because the Republican Party failed to live up to his standards and the stated Iowa Republican Party platform. Mr. Shaw realized a run as an independent may draw attention away from the real problem, which is an almost total lack of principled, Constitutional leaders within government. Tom Shaw now has the unique opportunity to be a watchdog and leader for the stated Republican Party platform. If the Republican Party fails to advance its own platform, we will support Tom Shaw’s principled approaches to advancing the stated goals of the platform.

Mr. Shaw is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and is the police chief in Laurens. In holding both of these positions, Tom Shaw has sworn to protect and defend the Constitution. Everyday America believes this is exactly what he will do in representing the people of the Eighth District. The next few years will be full of extremely challenging and difficult decisions for Iowa. Everyday America believes that Tom Shaw’s unwavering commitment and understanding of traditional American principles and philosophies will serve all Iowans well.

This endorsement is only valid for the Republican primary. The field of candidates will be re-evaluated for the general election. As with all Everyday America endorsements, EA has the right to retract its endorsement if it feels the candidate is not living up to the Constitutional premises of this state and country.
